February Snow

A dusting of late February snow today. The boys and Miss Mattie were excited to get outside and enjoy.

  1. Caden looks as though he is geared up for some winter camping (tent in the background?). Only your hat rivals that smile, Quinlan! I forget how tall Maddie is or how short the kids are! They dwarf in her presence! Only seeing them all play in the snow softens my attitude regarding this very long winter, as I watch even more snow fall today. Several weeks ago, the blush of the Ojibwe "Crust of Snow" full moon softened the monochromatic winterscape here as it was setting. The starkness and vastness of the landscape became soft and intimate. Moments later the dogs signaled "rise and shine" which is my alarm clock each morning and as we stepped outdoors we were met with a sunrise that rivaled the moonset. I'm sure you will agree that you can find joy in the simple and "little" pleasures of life!

  2. Agreed; if you look, there is beauty in the quietness of winter. Winter camping will have to wait a few more years but I'm sure they will love it :-)

  3. I remember the Minnesota winters then am thankful for living in Colorado. Alot of snow in the mountains so the snowshoeing has been great. Looking forward to meeting your family when we come up to visit this summer
