Blog Updates
Just a few housekeeping items since we're not really 'bloggers' per se but want to tie a few things up...
1 - The layout has changed... I'm not totally sure why, but blogger is free, so sometimes things expire and a person has to change things around. Yes, the fact that it doesn't all match is driving me crazy!
2 - We added a country counter; we did so to see if our connections in Seoul had received a link we recently sent. That's why there are 2 counters on the bottom.
3 - Yes! ...the baby robins survived and flew from the nest. We actually got to see a little of the fledgling crew gaining feathers and flight. It was pretty cool to host this family and they are all welcome back next year... need to plant more trees... ;-)
Less talk and more pictures...

Kelley Park
There is a great park in Apple Valley called Kelley Park, which has a splash pad. I can't believe I didn't think of coming here earlier this summer. Seeing Quin in the rain reminded me that we have this in our backyard.
Quin was a little hesitant at first but he found his way and ended up in a few misses on the collision front. The twins looked on... we carried them around for a while and they both enjoyed touching the spraying water and watching Q. Hopefully they'll be walking soon so they too can enjoy the many opportunities life has to offer... like the splash pad ;-) Being 3 is super fun.

China Referrals
We started our adoption process five years ago. We attended an informational meeting at our agency and decided it was the course we wanted to take to build our family. We took the required classes, completed our homestudy, and started to gather all of the necessary documents to build our dossier for an adoption from China. The dossier from China can take some time to build, as everything needs to be authenticated and notarized for the Chinese government. Since we were both born out of state, and we were married out of the country, it took us some time to get everything together, but our dossier was finally sent to China and logged in with the Chinese Center for Adoption Affairs (CCAA) on April 27th, 2006. That's when we officially began "the wait."
At the time, in the fall of 2005, being matched with a child from China was taking 6-7 months, and traveling to bring them home was just another 6-8 week wait. As the summer of 2006 went by, referrals coming from China started to slow, with families waiting 12-13 months by the time they received a referral. As 2006 turned into 2007, it was apparent the wait was only going to get longer with it slowly creeping up to 15, 16, 17 months waiting and continuing to slow.
By May of 2007, we knew we were looking at a very long wait to be matched with a child from China and that we had to do something else to build our family. We decided to put our names on the waiting list at our agency for South Korea. On May 18th, we attended a Korea information meeting and began our wait for either a little boy or a little girl. That November, we were matched with our precious Quinlan, who was born that very May 18th. And of course, we have been three times blessed with the addition of the twins from South Korea as well.
Just some reflections today as the most recent referrals coming out of China this week would have finally included our log in date of April 27th, 2006. That would have been a 51-month wait since our dossier was originally logged in with the CCAA. We moved on from China years ago, but it's nice to see waiting families from our original log in date finally being matched!
